Akifumi Nakajima started his career as a musician at the end of 80th. He issued more than a hundred plates \cassettes \compact discs and for each of them he used a unique limited spectrum of sounds (5-10 for an album), that have been recorded in a natural environment or have been found or stolen from the universe itself. And then they have been immortalised in his albums (sounds of water, fire, iron, bells, heart beating, electric bulbs, EKG, winds, magnetic resonance, inexplicable noise on air, in the space, crashing glass, and so on and so forth, as far as your fantasy guides you, sometimes ancient analogue synthesisers are also used).
Project Aube is one of the unbeatable classics of true industrial stage, that is adjustable neither to any kinds of time nor space limits, that can be spoilt neither by popular trends nor by low income. Such a kind of music always has a steady little number of fans, such a kind of music can never cease existing. And the secret is simple - it has no connection to our times, political situation, personality of the author, emotions, snivels, gothic and etc, I am sure that when another Armageddon takes places on the Earth, Akifumi will be sitting quietly at home mastering the 200th album with the sounds of Martian tree bugs.
It goes without saying that everything is processed and mastered only on analogue equipment, not computers, and the sound is always so clear as if every move is sure to cover all the frequency spectrum, every second has its own sound and influences the following one and further it goes, till the ultimate fuck-up.
This music has always been one of my favourite, you don't listen often to it, but it always lives inside of you, and there comes the time when you choose something to listen to and has no other choice. You need to be in a very special kind of mood for perception of this music, if the mood is at least a bit different, Aube can't but make you sick. These sound torrents is one more living proof that not every kind of music needs emotions, not in the common meaning of the word. In spite of the seeming chaotic character every album Aube is a very special thing in itself, an event, they all are created with a real Japanese fussiness, every sound, every, as it may seem, "accidental" resonance is a part of a system that is well considered, all the details to be able to occupy your brain. It can only impress and demand your respect - the obstinacy of the author in his sticking to his direction, the very modest way that avoids geniality, cult, loud provocative covers and other mass culture stuff. And together with all that he NEVER, NEVER repeats himself, consider it yourselves, but what is most probably to become a part of music history - Aube or the 70th clone of Raison d'Etre?
